GOOMBURRA VALLEY CAMP GROUND
Goomburra Valley Camp Ground via Warwick
Mileage: 4229. $22 per night with all facilities and power.
Private ground, well kept and supervised. We decided to do some housekeeping as we had electricity for the first time in 2 weeks; so washing large items, charging batteries, down loading photos and putting our travels into a "word document" to later upload to Travelpod.com.. We set up an outdoor office and went to work.
Best of all, we finally worked out how to fit the Fiamma bike cover over our bikes. We had tried unsuccessfully thrice before so this was a big achievement!
We are relying on our solar panels to run the fridge, the lights and water pump, but have not got our heads around using the inverter to run the computer yet; it will happen. So for the moment we are charging the laptop when we have power.
We were camped beneath very tall white gums, near a nearly dry creek and enjoyed some quiet time until a very hyper active family set up next door. We practised our keep cool under all circumstances code and managed to ignore the children whingeing and the parents nagging. The in ground fire pit enabled us to prepare some yummy BBQ coriander/chilli chicken for dinner.
We have been eating very well but at the same time healthily and with lots of time for preparation there can be no excuses for a lousy meal! The fridge and storage space means we can go about 10 days without shopping but so far we are shopping weekly.
Kath is still the main chef with Sheila taking responsibility for the driving.
Walking the roads in the morning we noticed “Gordon Country” signs everywhere, apparently farmer Gordon allows campers for a fee on his cattle/horse farm but warns intruders of dire consequences if they trespass; it felt a bit like the wild west
but the only cowboys we encountered out there were 4 x4 drivers. Closer to the national parks the signs read: THIS IS NOT GORDON COUNTRY-NO CAMPING.
