The last day is always the hardest. No set itinerary. Got up and walked to the Utrecht Station to put money on our cards for the train tomorrow. Then had lunch at Pannenkoekenrestaurant De Oude Muntkelder...over 80 kinds of pancakes! That's my kind of place! This historical cellar, which is now used to make the best pancakes in the world, was until 1910 originally used for the minting of Dutch coins. Spent the afternoon walking around in search of a Utrecht t-shirt. Of course you can never find what you are looking for. Would have loved to find a Utrecht University shirt but no such luck. We did stop into a one room grocery museum that had fun little candies in it. Walked through a beautiful church courtyard. Stopped for a drink at Winkel van Sinkel which is said to be the first department store in Utrecht. Then I believe it was a bank for nearly 100 years and recently converted to a restaurant and nightclub. Jeanne bought a cute bag that goes on the back of her bike. She tried to get me to ride on the back of her bike like the Dutch do....not pretty. Amy, of course hopped right on. Our dinner was at Mahanakorn, a Thai restaurant. Sat right on the canal and it was wonderful. Back to the apartment early to start packing and getting ready for our travel tomorrow. We had a fantastic week in Amsterdam and Utrecht and Jeanne was a great tour guide. Quite a benefit having her know the area. Hope everyone enjoyed the blog!
