Where I stayed
We headed back to the Brittania Bar for the fantastic burgers and chips that they make. After a pina colada and a glass of wine, we returned to the room as Rocky VI was playing in English on the TV! Sad, yes I know!
Next morning we woke to glorious sunshine streaming in through our huge window, so I did the washing and hung it outside to dry- which for the first time, happened within a few hours! We had a few walks, mainly to find food and spent the rest of the day reading and relaxing thinking that we would have a heavy few days coming up
Just as the light faded and we settled in for evening TV, we heard another huge crash. Looking out of our huge window, we could see two cars had collided (which happens all the time) and the drivers looked ready to kill eachother. Luckily no one was hurt and the police turned up quickly to diffuse everything! The road was cleared and we drifted off to sleep only to wake up the next morning to find yet another collision below our window...again, I don't think anyone was hurt but it has definitely put us off any form of driving around here. I flinch just getting on the buses now!
We had an early start after breakfast as we wanted to take the 7 hour bus to Pedro Juan Caballero which is on the border with Brazil. Within an hour on the road, the bus stopped and I opened my sliding window to find yet another car battered and bruised lying on its' roof with several other cars crumpled around it. Don't worry though, we are fine!!!
We had been forwarned that it was an awkward crossing (not difficult) just inconvenient. The bus drove us through the stunning Paraguayan landscape, past tranquil rivers, mini mountains with the fiery sun setting over the vast savannah.
We arrived at the border at 8pm so decided not to push our luck and try to cross (even though Brazil is only the other side of the road!)
Anyway, up early tomorrow to attempt this infamous border crossing!
