We'd heard good stuff about Phi Phi, although we were sceptical of going to 'too touristy' places, but with a few days to kill thought we couldn't pass up the opportunity to go to 'that beach' and boy was it a good move - its THE most beautiful place we have seen so far!
We decided to steer clear of the horrendously busy main town, and took the advice of the 'lonely liar' and headed to the back[packer area of Long-beach which turned out to be home to a few classy resorts! Using our radar though we managed to locate a skanky shack which we payed way over the odds for but that had an an amazing view!! Also it was like a 15 minute climb up to it which was a pain in the arse as it was covered in frogs (one night one jumped and landed on my arm and i freaked out and accidentally chucked it on another girl)
Once more we spent a long time sunbathing here, but we are passed the burning stage now wahey!!! Can't even explain how nice it is here - the sea is crystal clear and a turquoise colour, and the coral comes up to about 5 metres fro the sand so there's half decent snorkeling literally at your feet
The best part of Phi Phi without a doubt was the snorkeling trip to Maya bay.We rented out a long-tail boat for the day and got up early to beat the crowds that bombarded the place on ferries. As well as having amazing snorkeling, it really was the most beautiful beach i have ever seen with the clear sea and the cove, we took so many photos and they look great but again its even better in the flesh! By 11am though there were so many people there it kind of spoilt it, so we wandered across the island to look at the other side and then got the boat back to lay again once more.
We met some 'newbies' (its really easy to tell now those who haven't been out very long) who were having the time of their live annoying a crab and we played what we were led to believe to be the best game in the world but turned out to be 'The Moon In The Spoon' , a major anti-climax! So we left.
