Maybe it was the fact that it was Friday the 13th or maybe it was just our crappy luck but the trip didn't get off to the best start. We were due to fly out of Gatwick at 6pm which would get us to Prague and delivered to our apartment by 9pm in time to join Alice for dinner and have a few drinks. everything was going to plan, we boarded the plane on time and were taxiing out to the runway, I turned to Kelly and said "wow its nice to actually have a flight leave on time for once"..
When we arrived the nice man from the apartment picked us up. We are not sure if his car was completely road legal as we nearly spun out on the way....eeek!
When we arrived at the apartment he showed us in but was unaware that Alice was already there. I'm not sure who got the bigger fright, him turning on the light to find Alice in bed or Alice waking up to some creepy man. He left awkwardly and we had a bit of a laugh. We didn't get there until 12.30am and after scaring the crap out of Alice we had a few wines and didn't end up getting to bed till very late.
We set our alarms so we could get up at a reasonable hour and spend the day exploring Prague!! First stop were the Xmas markets in the old town, they were just awesome!!! Such a beautiful old city lots of gothic type buildings. The markets were full on, amazing food and most importantly lots of mulled wine and oh so cheap!!!
After venturing up there we got back down just in time for the clock display, there was a huge crowd gathered everyone was excited and waiting in anticipation....... wow what can I say we were disappointed it was so pathetic just a tiny little song and some creepy little statues moving in the windows. The clock itself is very cool but if you do ever go to Prague don't get too stressed if you miss the display. It was actually quite funny in the end!
Next up was a ride in a horse and carriage. It was starting to get pretty cold so we were super excited that they had a big warm fluffy blanket to wrap ourselves up in. They took us on a ride around the cobbled streets of Prague which was lovely and when the horses did their massive poos it provided some nice warmth. We continued on our quest to tick of as much as we could and walked over the famous historic Charles bridge and then went to see the John Lennon wall. We had heard some good things about this wall which basically a graffiti wall dedicated to John but unfortunately over the years it has been covered over so much with people writing crap there wasn't much left
After our busy day sightseeing we went home to refuel as we had booked to join a pub crawl for the night. We were all pretty buggered but after a few drinks we were well into it and had a fab time exploring Prague by night and visited 5 different pubs, the last one being Karlovy Lazne an awesome 5 story pub each floor is different. We ended up on the oldies floor which has a huge boogie wonderland land time dance floor that lit up and played heaps of awesome old tune, Grease, Motown etc!!! Glen had to drag me out about 2am and we headed home.... this was probably a good idea although I didn't agree at the time!!
Oh no what sore heads we had today!! we allowed ourselves a wee sleep in then after packing up the apartment heading back into the old town. luckily we managed to see so much yesterday that today was a much more cruisy day. After a loonnnggggg brunch/lunch in an Italian restaurant we walked up to see Prague Castle, It was a lovely walk through the cobbled streets of Prague and up some stairs, we had a few hilarious photo/selfie moments along the way. The views from up at the Castle were great it is so grand sitting up overlooking the city. We ventured in the main gates and explored the palace grounds, St Vitus Cathedral was stunning with some of the most beautiful stained glass windows I have seen
The day was coming to an end and we were all rather buggered so we slowly made our way to the airport ready to return to London! Prague was amazing so old and beautiful and sooooo cheap would definitely recommend and hopefully we may make it back again before we leave the UK!
