The Kiel Canal links the North Sea with the Baltic Sea. It starts from the River Elbe and reaches the Baltic near the port of Kiel about 60 miles. The canal was only about 300 feet wide and only 37 feet deep and is spanned by 7 high bridges. The transit time was about 8 hours as we were going slow.
