We were advised to dress conservative, i.e. no tank tops or short shorts. We chose the Classic Cairo tour which was a 2.5 hour drive to Cairo. Upon arrival at the Giza plateau, we could see the only remaining wonder of the ancient world, the famous three pyramids.
The largest is the pyramid of Cheops. It contains and estimated 2mm limestone 2 tons blocks. The second pyramid still retains on its upper parts, the remains of the limestone that had once covered it all. The third is much smaller that either one. After a short hour & a half here, we drove down the valley to marvel at the mighty Sphinx. A legendary statue with a body of line and a human head.
After taking more pix and oohs and ahs, we boarded the coach bus again to have a buffet lunch at a hotel. Afterwards, a drive to Tahrir to discover the National Archeological Musuem with Antiquities & priceless artifacts. We were not allowed to take pix here. Our final stop was at the Papyrus Institue to see demonstrations on how ancient Egyptians made paper from reeds from the Nile. We spent approx 12 hours for this trip.
