Our first day in Rome and we're all excited to see the Vatican!!
After our first Roman breakfast which looked more like American, lolz.
We decided to take the City sightseeing Roma on a Hop on-Hop Off red bus. The metro was on strike and it turned out fine since the bus had a 2 day special, lolz.
On the way to the Vatican, we passed by the Colosseum and I wanted somebody to pinch me. I couldn't believe that I was here seeing the Colosseum where all the gladiators were. Not that they were happy times but I felt I was brought back in history. So we reached the Vatican and there was a long line to the Museum. It was hot in July and I wanted to stay in the shade. Thank God, I was with the group and they held the line for me, thank you!
It was 14 euros to get in.
The Vatican Museum has 8 museums, five galleries and the Sistine Chapel, which is the private chapel of the Popes. There were ceilings and ceilings of Michelangelo works from the 15th century and halls of painting, antiquities, statues, etc. It took us a day to walk the whole museum not to mention that we almost lost my son for 3 hours who went the other way exit out of the Sistine chapel which many did not know. I had to buy the book for 28 euros because there were just to much to absorb and I don't think I can remember each one of them. Plus there was no flash photography and no photography of any kind in the Chapel.
After we finally saw my son who figured it out, we went across the street and relaxed and had an early dinner before returning to the hotel. Although we decided to go out again in the evening to see the Fontana di Trevi at night and the Spanish steps. there along the streets, we did some shopping and gelatto. Yum!!
