With a nice 6am start we headed out (all of 5 feet) to the sea to grab a boat for our whale watching experience. After the detailed orientation (consisting of 2 mins, from which the basic rule is "touch a shark, go to jail") we finally headed deep into the ocean - you would think, but the honest truth is owning 30 metre swiming badges we really could have made it ourselves!

Jumping into the water, we honestly didn't think we would get that close to the whale sharks. Therefore had quite a fright (cue girly scream) when we first looked under to see we were surrounded. There mouths were big enough to fit the two of us! It also turns out that the girly scream did us no favors, as the person who fed the sharks (and therefore controled there paths) found it entertaining to constantly encorage multiple sharks in our direction. We were pleased our ploy had worked, the girly scream meant we had the best viewing spot and experience. To give you an idea of there size, the largest shark (which spent over 5 min standing tall right in front of us) was the equivalent to 7 men standing and well a whales width! After 30 minutes in the water our time with the gentle giants was up, we climbed back onto the boat with painful marks from the snorkels on our faces that were well worth the amazing experience!

After a quick rest to recover from our exciting morning the plan was to hop on a motorcycle and head to the nearby waterfalls. Hannah decided to stay in our room on the beach to rest so Kat headed up alone. After a 20 minute journey with stunning views over cebu and it's surrounding islands Kat headed down what seemed like an almost vertical hill to the base of a huge waterfall. After deciding the water was too cold to go for a proper dip and admiring the views Kat headed back and we both spent the evening enjoying the view!
