Looking at my face in the mirror this morning I decided: I am too old to be drunk for three days. Honestly! It started Friday, late afternoon, as I ended my last day of work (having been working seven days a week for the last thirty days!!!) and went out for 'tea' with some girls from work and Olivia's parents. A few bottles of wine later and I run into Megan downtown (who's been touring NZ with some people from Melbourne and had come to Hamilton to see me) with her posse. We end up in a couple of bars but, knowing that Saturday is the big 'going out night' we take it easy and end up home by 1:30am.

My body is so used to getting up before 8am (every. day.) that I am shocked awake by the knowledge that my alarm didn't go off and I MUST BE LATE FOR WORK!! After convincing myself that 6:54am is not an appropriate time to wake up for someone who drank their weight in wine the night before and doesn't, in fact, have to work that day...I went back to bed.

Saturday night started at my place with too many bottles of vodkasomethingorothers, some random shots mixed in and there was tequila involved.......... needless to say, we didn't need to purchase anything else at the bars themselves. A good crowd of work mates came out to celebrate my departure from 'the Tron' and much needed dancing was had. Great laughs, a lot of quotables that are only really funny to those who were present and a little bit of mess involved and our sober driver falling asleep at the bar. All in all, a helluva good time and I managed to keep my white dress....white. Go me!

Sunday saw Meg and I hitching a ride to Auckland with Judi Dench's German/South African/British twin - what a character - who was a friend of the South African I was staying with. I wanted to bottle her voice and be able to take it out at parties, it was brilliant and eccentric. We met up with the rest of the Canadian Australians at the hostel and the party continued with some smuggled in leftover alcohol from Saturday night and a free hot tub on the hostel roof. Yeehaw. A jaunt downtown for some dinner - kebabs and turkish pizza - and then off to a pub for some really good live music and a really drunk American making a complete ass of herself with some dance moves that I will be showcasing at a later date so everyone can be just as amused as we were.

Quite the weekend, I must say, and my face needs a break from all the action. I catch the airport bus in a little bit and it's off to Samoa where my directions to get to my accomodation is the following:

Hi Kristin
Catch the airport shuttle bus. See my friend Tau hell bring you home.
Regards.

Hmmm.... Tau, huh? Where IS this person and how am I supposed to 'see' him?? I am reminded of Thailand, Laos and Indonesia all of a sudden. ..this should be interesting. Island living here I come! Thank god I packed lightly because it looks like I'll have a bit of wandering to do when I get there. ;)

GPS
that reminds me of the instructions we got in Costa Rica when the bridge was washed out. The guy looked at us and said 'go round man'. Huh?
