It's so funny how the words "TGIF" mean absolutely nothing when you start working on the weekend. I woke up this morning to my cell phone screaming in my ear and when I was asked to work I actually said "Are you kidding?" Needless to say, I didn't go in today.

I don't work at the restaurant anymore. Everyone I enjoyed working with has quit - much drama that I don't have time to go into and really, none of it is funny so why bother talking about it - and I haven't worked there in weeks. I never really *needed* that job, it was more of a "let's try something different" experiment. I learned some things about myself while doing it and was surprised to enjoy it. Until my boss went insane, that is.

My other jobs are going well. I got back from my trip to find that the new supervisor at Aratika was already vying for my time - it's nice to know you're wanted. I enjoy the clients at that job and the people I work with but sometimes the work is so boring I have to fight to stay awake. They are now removing the funding for a lot of the programs the clients enjoyed and I have no idea what they expect us to do with twenty extra people with nothing to do. It's frustrating and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I'm trying to stay as removed as possible - knowing me I would give the CEO a piece of my mind and be blacklisted from healthcare work in NZ forever!

My final job is the evenings/weekends with the young girl. It's full on and being that her mom just got married and is taking off on her honeymoon soon as well as one of the staff leaving for six weeks, I am finding myself with a lot of hours. Which is both good and bad. Sometimes it's great and more or less "easy" and other times, she's sick and can't breathe very well which means I spend four hours pounding on her back, sticking a catheter down her throat and trying to move her around without breaking my back or her limbs. When it gets a bit overwhelming, I take a break, make a tea and read her a book. I'm full in the swing of things now which makes it much easier (when you know what you're doing) than when I didn't.

And that's me - for now - not much time for anything else. I know I promised pictures of the trip and I will get those up, it was SUCH a blast and I miss the boys already! Hope this wee update finds you all well.

Working weekends / working with kids
I've worked odd hours before so I can empathize with that, but I'm always amazed at the effort you put into working with these kids that have incredible difficulties. Anyhow, all is well here - fall isn't quite in the air, but mornings are in the 'teens, and you remind yourself that it'll warm up by noon. Anyhow, my pens are all filled and email mostly read - time to head home soon.
