After a long flight and a lay over on some gorgeous beach in California, I met up with Dad and Jared at a downtown hostel (the Fat Camel) this morning sometime before the sun even rose. Disgruntled and lacking my morning caffeine fix, I was still squealing with glee when I saw them. Jared is even taller and, if you can believe it, his hair is bigger than mine! Dad's hair...well, let's change the topic. (Dad adds: I try to comb it to cover the patches but it's not working!)
It wasn't even 7:30am yet but we all hipped and hopped down the empty streets, the boys being excited to be out of North America for the first time ever. Very cute to watch - a couple times they nearly ran into lamp posts and walked into the street looking the wrong way for cars.
We're headed to Hahei Beach tomorrow on the first leg of our Stray Travel journey. Where we are promised (should the weather be nice - pleasepleaseplease) the options of kayaking or digging our own hot pool! Then off to Raglan where Dad keeps hinting that he wants to try surfing. I will get him out there. On a surf board. In winter. (insert evil laugh)
There is some bush walking, geothermal area viewing, bush sauna-ing, caving and crazy New Zealand 'extreme sports' doing in the plans for the next couple of weeks. Pictures will come at a later date.
Lots of love,
K, J and BFD

that is so cool. Have a blast and try not to kill the old man or at least not completely. Surfing in the winter in NZ will be like surfing in Tofino in July....it's all good.
