The funniest thing about me these days is how I talk. I've noticed that I have picked up the slang here quite a bit, saying things like "sweet as/nice as/whateveryouwanttoputhere as", I say "aye/eh" all the time (yes, Canadians get stereotyped for it but you wouldn't believe the amount of 'aye's you get here - EVERYONE says it), and I say "nah" instead of "no". I catch myself saying "dear" with an accent, same with "darling" and "yeah". I say other things with an accent too and I'm curious to see if this continues once I'm with Dad and Jared - it probably won't because I only pick up the accent around people who have it themselves.
Speaking of accents, I am constantly getting teased for mine. Considering I surround myself with Kiwis, South Africans and a couple Brazilians, I am the one who sounds the most different. They all sort of sound somewhat similar whereas I stick out like a sore thumb with a harsh accent. I'm beginning to dislike the way I say certain things; the way I pronounce some things just sounds too harsh, it doesn't flow as nicely as it does when the others say it. Which, I guess, is why I'm developing a bit of an accent myself. I blend words together where I didn't before because I think it sounds nicer - softer.
It is weird to hear myself though. It's a laugh.
In other news, I've moved out of Andrea's suburban Kiwi paradise and into her boyfriend's downtown house. As they say here, it's pretty 'sweet as' to be so close to downtown though a tad lonely having an entire house to myself and not even a cat to blame my self-talk on. I walk into town often to hang out at the South African cafe/bar where I have become the token "Canadian". More hilarity ensues.
....damn the library is closing so I have to cut this short. Dad and Jared land on Monday and I CAN'T WAIT to see them. We'll be touring a bit of the north island and hopefully this weather gets better because we will all be very disappointed if it keeps up.
Miss you all and lots of love your way!

You know, I'd probably say something more, if not necessarily more intelligent, if I didn't post just after rolling in the door drunk and messed up. It'll be interesting to hear your accent when you get back - can we make fun of you if you sound funny?
