I was walking back from Bible study one day, when I ran into my friend Leah.  Leah lives one block from me and is here in Prague, teaching at a Christian school.  When I went to Berlin for the second time, Leah went with me.  She likes to travel and just get out of Prague, so she asked if I wanted to join her and a friend for a day trip to Telc, Czech Republic.  I had never heard of Telc, but it sounded like fun to get out of the flat for the day, so I went with them.

Leah bought us bus tickets for 8:00 a.m.  We met on the corner of our street at 7:20 and took the metro to the bus stop. The bus was full on the way there and it took us about 2 1/2 hours to get there.   Big surprise, I was getting a little car sick as the roads were very curvy.  From what I saw, it was very pretty terrain.

We arrived in Telc around 10:30 a.m.and made our way to the castle, where a tour was just starting.   We got on the tour, which turned out to be just walking through the castle with an information pamphlet that they had made.  Our guide did not speak much English, so I wouldn't really say that it was a guided tour.  It was a pretty neat castle, though.  One of the previous owners was big into hunting and had gone to Africa five times on hunting exhibitions.  There was one room called the "African Room" that had all of the hides and heads he had collected.  There were crocodile hides, zebra heads, leopard skins, you name it, it was in there.

After the tour of the castle, we went back into the town square, which was really cute.  We had a nice little lunch, in which we all ate fried foods.  I had fried cauliflower, which was different.  After lunch we walked around some more.  The town is surrounded by ponds and there is a great park with nice green grass by the ponds that we walked through.  There really wasn't much else to do there, except walk around, but it was very nice.  It was perfect for just a little day trip.  Our bus left at 3:30 and that was about the right amount of time to spend in Telc.
