After Joe and Jan spent a few days in Paris, Joe and I decided to hop in the car and meet them in Brussels for the weekend.  We arrived Friday afternoon to find that Joe and Jan had already scoped out the town.  We were staying at the Sheraton, which was about a fifteen minute walk to Brussel's "Grand Place."  The Grand Place is comprable to Prague's Old Town Square.  It is very old and very pretty, especially at night.

After  taking a walk through the shopping district and ending up at the Grand Place, I was hungry (what else is new).  I stopped for a hot waffle with chocolate and bananas on top.  It was wonderful, but very messy.  In fact, the waiter at the cafe we went to had to clean me up.  It was kind of embarrasing but it made for a good photo op.  While sitting at the cafe, Joe and his mom tasted some of Belgium's fine beers.  We had a great view of the Grand Place while sitting at the cafe

For dinner, we took a walk down one of the side streets that was famous for its restaurants.  It was packed with people trying to decide which of the seafood restaurants looked best.  We finally decided on one and Joe tried the famous mussels of Brussels.  We had a lovely time at dinner with the surrrounding atmosphere.

After dinner we took another walk to the Grand Place to take in the view again.  We also ate more waffles, which were really good.  After sight-seeing we went back to the hotel to get some rest for the next days road trip.
