My in-laws, Joe and Jan Gasowski arrived in Prague on Thursday the 27th of September.  They made it here safely, however their luggage didn't quite make the trip.  On their first night here, we took them to dinner at the Cuban Restaurant and then took a walk through Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge, which is beautiful at night. The next morning we all got up and hit the road for Berchtesgaden, Germany.  The trip there was a little stressful as it was raining fairly hard.  When we got there, we went straight to the little village of Konigssee.  There is a lake at the end of the village.  It was really pretty with the leaves turning colors and the mountains in the back ground.  We spent a few hours walking around the village shopping, eating and enjoying the scenery. Joe and his mom also had to check out the German beer.

We then went and found our hotel.  Upon arrival we found it to be very charming as it looked like something out of the "Sound of Music".  We did run into a minor kink as Joe had scheduled us for the wrong night.  They did, however, find an apartment style room for us with two beds.  After relaxing for a bit, we found a local German restaurant for dinner.  The atmosphere was great and we all enjoyed our meal.

The next morning we took a bus trip up to the Eagle's Nest, which is Hitler's second home or tea-house that was given to him on his 50th Birthday. After getting off the bus we walked though a tunnel to an elevator that took us up to the Eagle's Nest.  The views from the top of the elevator were absolutely spectacular with mountains surrounding us.   The inside of the Eagle's Nest is now a restaurant, but we were able to go in and see the room that was used in the film from HBO's "Band of Brothers".   We walked around for a couple of hours and took in the beautiful surroundings.  Although it was beautiful, Jan and I both thought it was a little eerie being in Hitler's old house.

After heading back down the mountain, we hit the road again for Prague.  Overall, we had a great time on our short but fun and scenic road trip.
