Belgrade, Serbia
Entry 19 of 22 | show all | print this entry |
Belgrade, or Beograd is the proper way to say it, was an interesting place. I enjoyed it much more than Sofia. (felt like ther eas more to see) we went out for a city tour before heading to the hotel and right when we got there, it started to pour buckets! lucky that day I was wearing all white, AND went commando that day! (bright thinking) We visited the market and the main castle/tanks. First we took out money and b/c of the currency exchange we all felt like ballers; carryong around 1000's and 1000's of din. Thank to the rain, we sat inside a cafe and had melted chocolate for a hot chocolate. it was awesome! Then Jules and I shared a nutella, banana, coconut crepe which made us feel a tad sick. Later, while putting all our concentration on not slipping, we made our way to the tanks, maybe about 15 or so in a row & they werent replicas! we wandered on to see a GIANT watermelon that we all took bites out of. (as well as a GIANT eye that we all ooked through. I was really excited and had heaps of fun. Also managed to climb onto a two of the tanks to take some funky photos. Later that evening after dinner we went out to an Irish Pub -- sat around there for a bit and headed to Blaywatch. Our taxi drive was very infomrative yet a bit scary too. We mentioned that I was from Canada and he thought of it as USA so he became all defensive and told us how much he hated the Americans. Then as we drove through the Belgrade streets he ointed out a hotel and a Chinese Embassy that were both bombed by the Americans. He says "this building, 2 bomb, GONE!" Finally we got the club and were able to leave that. At the club we could'nt exactly get in b/c we needed a "reservation". We were able to get in and it was a bit different. It was a semi-outdoor club with 3 half naked dancers and tables instead of a dance floor. Also we couldn't order our drinks at the bar, we had to get a server to bring them to us. There was a live band playing which I personally didnt enjoy as much as I wished, so after a 8000din bill we decided to leave and went back to the hotel. The next day we were to wake up early yet again to drive to Budapest, Hungary.
