We had to take a 3 hour-ish ferry to get to Santorini and that was the morning I was hungover from my night out with the boys. Right when we got on i started to feel sick so to prevernt vomiting I saw still with my eyes closed. Finally we made it and as we got off it was like we entered a jungle! EVERYONE, absolutely ever body off the ferry was pushing and yelling at each other in the heat. Not only that but policemen could only communicate by yelling at the passengers. By the time we found our coach we didn't care where we went as long as we got some AC. We arrived at our hotel in which we had to wait about an hour before getting our rooms. Uta left to get lunch while I showered and slept. Later that day we went to town to do some shopping and to see Thira. I did enjoy town, the little alley-way streets and the continuous white buildings, although not nearly as much as Ios. At the very top of town was the most incredible view that was definately worht the wlak. Also every single shop focuses on selling sandals and flip-flops. I have never seen so many thongs before!
That evening we all went out to town for dinner then some bar hopping. I had tomatoes stuffed with rice which was very pleasant, then we went out to Tropicana for a few drinks. The music was by far the best at this club. Nick, Myself and Louise decided to make it an early night so at the point we left.
The next morning Chalie, Chriss, Anne, Shanelle, Gareth, Uta, Colin, Chitty, Dan and myself rented a mini van to eplore the island. Uta saw a sign aboutAncient Thira so we all went there on our way to the some beaches. We had to drive up this ridiculous stone/pebbled road taht was not only as steep as a wall but also had risky sharp turns. B/c all the vans on the island are crap, this van kept on rolling backwards, so as some of us made a combination fo laughing, screaming and almost shitting ourselves we all leaned forward and the van made it up the turn. The other scary part was that there were moments hen other cars were coming down so we all had to squeeze by. Finally we reached the top and began to climb by foot up to the Ancity City. It was unreal! We were so high up that the black beach looked like a sidewalk, the umbrellas on the beach looked like parked cars and the best part we were so high up that at one point we were at a higher elavation that a plane!
After our adventure, we got back down and on our way to Pygros the van began to slow down. We detoured to the rental place, they took it for a drive and gave us a full refund including our gas money. We had all that fun for free! I was thrilled!
Afterwards i felt a little sick so I went to go lie down, only to later go out for a peaceful dinner with Nick, chitty and Peter. We came back relatively early, around midnight, for a nice long sleep. The next day I spent the entire day on the beach, the black sand beach. Exactly what I needed! (yet again)
I had a really laid bak day where I didnt do much. The next day we were leaving for Athens to meet up with the rest of the our original group to make our way towards Turkey.
