Hello,
Just come back from 8 days trip in Central Mongolia.
Amazing time, and places.
We slept every night in some yourts (or gers) with nomades Mongolians family...
It was pretty cold, down to -20 at night, but in the yourts it was very hot as we could have the fire burning all night...
We did 3 days horse riding, yesterday we should have done camel riding for few hours , but they couldn't find the camels as they are living in the wild, so we stay with the family instead, cause the winter is coming they have to make a big reserve of meet ,and we so them slaughtering about 8 ships and 6 goats, thay open the belly when they are still alive, cut a vein near the heart, it takes about 1 min before they die, but it seems like they don't suffer at all
Mongolia it's in average 270 days of sun per year...the sky is completely blue ,and the night you can see millions of stars and an amazing milkyway...
Since 3 and half weeks i'm here, i saw 1 snow storm for 3 hours on the way from Russia to Ulaanbaatar ,and 1 sand storm for 20 mins during our trip, all the other days only sunny days...it's very relaxing, even thought it's pretty cold.
I couldn't get the visa for China, so i will go back to Russia, it takes about 10 opening days to do it ,so i have to wait till next week to leave the country. i couldn't leave Ulaanbaatar, for 2 weeks before the tour cause of my visa problem, and now i have to wait 1 more week ,i want to go on a other tour, but cause of this visa situation my budget get in the red, it will cost me about 500 dollars in total to go to China from Russia ,instead of 80 dollars from Mongolia, but anyway that's part of the trip, and probably will happen again a lot of exciting things in Russia. I will go in the direction of Vladivostok, that's where the closest chineese embassy is located, and if i can't get the visa there i will take a boat from Vladivostok to South Korea, and then a boat to Hong Kong or Vietnam depending the cheapest way
Mongolia is a beautifull country and the nomades are amazing people, they welcome us with open arms, cook for us, sing, and always smile to make us fill welcome. We had the chance to share with one of the family 1 full mouton (ship) that's they just slaughtered. We ate the head the feets, the ribs and all the rest....they grow up in the wild and the taste of the meet is amazing.
Almost every days we ate mouton , and many times the family make their own pasta and bread, we had some, goat cheese, yak cheese ,horse cheese, and different milk tea, from camel, horse, goat, yak or cow....with saw few eagles, and many other animals, unfortunetly no woolfs...
It's an experience i will never forgot ,i would like to come back in summer, buy a horse and ride for 3 months all over mongolia.
that's all for now.
I will download some few pictures if it works
