Hola from beautiful Plantillo, Costa Rica
I am on top of the mountain, looking down at the valley and out to the Pacific Ocean. It is an incredible country. To be in the lush vegetation of the jungle, on top of a mountain and 7 miles away from the beautiful Costa Rican beaches is absolutely amazing to me.  I am so GRATEFUL.

This morning I woke up to a warm yellow  sunrise at 5 am and watched monkeys dancing back and forth between the trees. I just laid there.. awestruck. It didn't even cross my mind to get my camera, did not want to disturb them, plus I was thinking it was still too early--- to get Up- Up.. Also watched butterflies flit around and the toucans were squawking (although I did not see them). The wildlife, flora and fauna is so incredible here.

My travels and journey have taken me here for a reason. Most of you know that I have always been a hard worker, working my whole life,  that I am always doing something:  10 projects at a time, a party here,  a party, laundry, art,,  Well,  the good Lord just said enough DOING!!! It is all about just BEING --- being here and now.  And being ME.. very interesting challenge for ME!!!  I can just sit for hours listening.. watching, breathing. I then ask myself what did I do all day long and I can say NOTHING and it is the grandest concept. NOTHING BUT EVERYTHING!!!  HELLO.

I spent my 56th birthday at the beach at Dominical, watching the surfers, the waves, people, birds . and it dawned on me that I didn't want to just sit and  watch the surfers, I wanted to be a SURFER.  Still LIVING LARGE AT 56, soo I am going to take a surfing lesson, and re-certify  for my PADI scuba-diving. I hope to see my 57th (just kidding)

I read, paint, meditate, feed the cats, water and care for the garden, walk, swim, and just BREATHE.  Sadly a dear friend took his last breaths this week after a courageous battle with cancer. This blog is dedicated to Bill Steinlage and to his family with love. Bill taught me how to whistle..or at least he tried, and he taught me how important it is to just BE and ENJOY.

The quote." LIfe is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" says it all for me today. I know that I am the happiest luckiest woman on earth... ENJOY and hope that you are having those moments too, they go by so quickly. Love, Kari

It's just wonderful to see the green leaves and the beautiful flowers in CR. Here in Chicago it is like a pestilence has hit the countryside. Everything is still dead, dead, dead. Enjoy the warmth, color and fun!

I want to do all that with you take a surfing lesson!! Please advise!!

You go girl!! Continue to live large and enjoy life. May God continue to refresh your heart, soul, and mind as enjoy His creations-including you!! The pictures are fabulous. Especially that yummy looking watermelon. How I long for fresh fruits and veggies to eat. It is still cold here, but getting warmer. Still have snow around-but will soon be gone. The ice on the ponds, lakes has opened up. The kids are growing up! Brenna will be 13 on Thursday. Preston graduates in about 5 weeks. I know I will need a vacation. Can I come see you?? Take care-JML

I think you should take "monkey lessons' and learn how to swing in the trees. Maybe you will meet your "Tarzan" while you are there. I can see it now......a little monkey business between Tarzan and Kari-Jane.

I can see you're making the most of it. I'm so happy you're happy. 3 more grandbabies on the way for greater Larson family...Sam's wife, Hannah and Nell going for #2.

Kari, beautiful thoughts and photographs from you once again. It's great to hear that you are enjoying just 'being', rather that doing all the 'doing'. Great photos for future Kari cards!
