our journey on a chicken bus passes by quickly..we obviously have a hair raising driver as we dont stop for any of the floods, and drive straight through them! other people werent so lucky, and had to wait a few hours..and some havent gotten through!
we are hearded to a hostel across the lake izabel, and find ourselves slowly going through the jungle in a boat to get there---- it is a lovely place with an authentic weaved roof, and my room has a lovely window over looking the back. matt opts for a more expensive one a small walk acorss planks down the way..he has a hammock nd a small deck..he seems happy...hes even more happy that we met a van diesel look a likey...!
the only downsize is that we are trapped here..and the only way to get to the main land is via boat, which you have to pay for. the next day we decide to go back to the main land as its not raining! we wander the small stalls, which are full of nothing but tac, and then head for the castillo de san felipe...or the pirate castle as we all will call it!
in the 15th century, pirates..real pirates! came up from the crribean, which is only 2 hours away from here.... they tried to loot all the goods from this prosperous lake, so a castle was built to capture and imprison them. it was cool..quite small...but you could imagine the fights that went on here, as it was attacked by a number of pirate ships to get their mates back!
the scarey thing was i went into one room and just felt like i heard screams, and on reading about it later..that was the room they kept them...ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
we stayed another day in our hostel, reading, and playing cards etc..we wanted to go for a swim on the lake..but the heavens opened...que suprise...
