i rise early and go to check out the second (shock horror)/chicken buses as they are called here, timetables.  its like a normal bus in england to be honest, and we find we are leaving later in the morning, for only four squids... bargain!

with it being a day bus i get such a great ride.  here is a short list of some of the things i saw:

villages with whole religious parades coming down the streets.  the women and men dressed in formal and bright clothing. i see huge, bright flowers and bushes i have never seen before.  we are going through the jungle after all.  i question, what is the jungle? what makes a jungle different to our forrests?  matt and i decide its a forrest, with vines and deadly stuff in them. the houses are painted bright colours, and fill every little hillside, or cravise. i see orange, avocado and bananna trees, dogs sleeping on doorsteps. children with torn clothes, happily  playing in the streets, with a tin can. birds with red breats, and long tails, eagles in pairs, soaring high and even close to our windows.  even a parrot!  kids wave.  what other international signs are there that EVERYONE in the world recongnises?  a wave, and everyone replies with a smile.

it is such a great 6 hours, matt has had his nose stuck in a book , and has probably missed some of the beatuiful countryside, and i am sad that its over, but eager to see our new home in the jungle, close to the mayan ruins.  we hop into a taxi and head to el panchan, a small town in the jungle with cabanas, and hammocks close to the ruins.

our cabana is simple but clean. heavy in the jungle, flower by our cabana
flower by our cabana
where the animals chat amongst themselves. our cabana in the jungle:basic hut

at dark we need our head torches, and the noises could be distrubing, if i didnt know they are probably more scared of us than other way round. tomorrow we are having an early rise to see the ruins. surronded by trees..so happy
