Tonight we are in Moab, Utah and after we checked in we headed over to Arches National Park for the sunset. There was quite a bit of cloud cover but we saw a sliver of light at the horizon. We pulled over and waited and our patience payed off. We were treated to a very pretty sunset and Jayne got to see the red rocks glow!
Today was amazing! We decided at the last minute to take a jeep tour to Yankee Boy Basin to see the wildflowers. I had read about how spectacular they are and we weren't disappointed! We went with San Juan Jeep tours based in the Great Western Hotel. Our driver Keith was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the area's history and the flowers and best of all he was a good driver. And believe me, this is important! The road up to the basin was very hairy at times. There were places where the truck barely fit on the road and the drop off was straight down! What a ride! But it was well worth it. Keith not only took us to Yankee Boy Basin but to Govenor's Basin which was above the tree line. Amazing!!! I made a slideshow of our jeep adventure which I will try to link to here.
