I love Salida Colorado. It is surrounded by mountains and gorgeous scenery and isn't at all crowded or commercialized. We got an early start and arrived in Salida around 2:00 pm after going through Big Horn Canyon. Of course we wanted to see Big Horn sheep and I actually spotted two groups of them!  But the road was very curvy and there was no place to pull over so there are no photos....just my word. We did see the backsides of another Big Horn family later in the day and we do have photos!
We stayed at the Days Inn in Salida which we highly recommend. It was more like a small family run B&B than a chain motel. We were greeted by Oscar Meyer the resident long haired dachsund so we knew it would be a good place! Beds were comfy, room was clean and the owner Mark makes Belgium waffles from scratch for breakfast. He kept insisting to Jayne that the second and third batch were the best. I only managed the first batch!

You are making this sound too wonderful -- I'm tempted to fly out with Elaine! (Just joking ... but, it would be fun!) We're still hoping for rain tonight or tomorrow. The bluebirds had a "pool" party in my big bird bath ... it was really fun to watch the babies and the parents. We know that Jayne likes waffles -- guess that the mid-westerners found that out! Bon Voyage!
