- Today is a big move day as we have 6 hours of drive time AND we have to bypass NYC.
- Karen does a great job of navigating us around NYC but we still see huge lineups heading toward NYC even though we are 50 miles away and it is Sunday! Thank goodness we are going the other way!
- As we arrive in Lancaster County the land opens up to rolling fields and lush farms and LOTS of horse drawn Amish carts. this is Amish country and they are a neat culture which does not embrace technology and believe the closer you are to the land and simplicity the closer you get to God! They use Horses a lot and the old men ride around on push scooters like the ones kids use elsewhere but bigger and painted nicely! We are surprised when we hear horse drawn carts go by at 2-3 AM on Sunday night. We find out this is "courting night" for the unmarried couples! Cool!
- We setup in the Beacon Hill Campsite and it is really nice, small campground but very nice spots with really clean bathrooms.. It is an Adult only site!
From our site we get a sweeping view of some Amish Farms (see pictures) and we get lucky as the one below us is used as the Sunday meeting place this week so it is full of families playing and eating and praying (they dont have formal churches).
- Also get a treat as Mars is aligned with a crescent moon that happens rarely!
- We REALLY like the feel of this place!
