Hi folks. Just a short note from the Windy City! We are on our last night here and yes...we are on Tornado Watch! Well apparantly Chicago is in the path of a storm that caused a couple of tornados but they dont think we will be hit by one, just a few thunderstorms. We're getting the train to Minneapolis tomorrow afternoon, which according to the news is getting lots of snow. Yes the bad weather seems to have followed us from Ireland! We had one great day in Chicago though yesterday where we took loads of photos and had brilliant views from the boat tour and the Sears tower tours that we did.
We've put up photos of Niagara Falls, Washington, New York and Chicago on our blog entries so if you go back to the main blog and check the entries you should be able to see them. We abandoned the Flickr site so dont bother checking that.
Buffalo wing update - Rob had buffalo wings in two Chicago restaurants so far. The first scored a measly 5 out of ten as they were too small and had too much sauce. Last night however was a major improvement and got 9 out of 10 - the highest rating yet! The wings were meaty and perfect spiciness but one mark was deducted because they werent served with celery sticks. Stay tuned for more. Also check out the photos of New York to see Rob and his bottle of authentic Buffalo Wing sauce! Hopefully it'll make it all the way home to Ireland so he can try it out.
Apart from that, we have really enjoyed Chicago. It's a great city, loads of nice buildings, nice people and cool shops and bars. The highlights were the boat trip, sears tower and the really strange but cool "bean" yesterday. The weather was pretty miserable today, what with all the tornados in the area so we headed to the science museum to check out the german submarine and airplanes. We've just sampled some authentic chicago hot dogs, served up by people who sounded like they'd escaped from the gerry springer show! Heading off to pack for the trip tomorrow and watch out for the "severe weather" as they call it here! Bye for now! Karen & Rob
