We arrived at Manchester airport quite early so went to customer services to see if we could at least drop our bags off. Luckily we not only got to check our bags but also got bumped onto an earlier flight to London Heathrow (LHR) which was fantastic and took all the worry out of transferring between terminals 5 and 3. This extra time was particularly useful as I thought we were flying via Singapore to was confused when the flight boards were saying Bangkok, but after checking our tickets we were indeed going via Bangkok on the way out and returning via Singapore, oh well makes no odds to us! I had not been to LHR before so it was amazing to see how vast the departures lounge was, it even had a mini Harrods in there! Who says the UK is no good at e-commerce!!! To be honest swanky as LHR was the hustle and bustle was a lot like London itself so forget Harrods, I would take a more relaxed Manchester or Leeds Bradford any day!
Our 2nd leg of the journey 11hours 50 Min's to Bangkok oh my! Neither of us knew what to expect however we were again very lucky as this flight was relatively quiet so the person who was supposed to be sitting next to us got a whole row of seats to himself and likewise Craig and I got a row too which meant that once our evening meal had been served (Evening meal at 11:30pm!!! I turned it down, we I know it must be the first ever meal I have turned down in my life but it was just too late and I did not want to hinder any chances of getting to sleep, but Craig tucked in!) After dinner we both curled up around each other and actually managed too get at least 4 hours of all be it broken sleep but we could not complain and it made the flight pass much quicker.
We had 3 hours walking and shopping in Bangkok airport which was actually really nice. Craig bought a lovely leather wallet for a rock bottom price and proceeded to declare that given the cost of things perhaps we should stay, needless to say my answer was no...Australia here we come!
Ok so the 3rd and finally leg an 8 hour flight down from Bangkok to Sydney, changed our watches in Bangkok so it was like 6pm Saturday evening so just went with it, and once it got to 1am tried again to get some sleep however it was not so easy this time as the flight was pretty much full so no room to stretch out still managed a couple of hours plus watched little fockers which was so very funny and we highly recommend you see it.
