Same start times and same lovely weather...21C. No rain for several days and starting to feel more like summer. Breakfast here not as good and I think the tour guide is not that happy with this hotel. Certainly if it was really hot (and apparently it was a couple of weeks ago) it would be pretty uncomfortable. Still for us it was lovely and quaint and we enjoyed our very short visit. We have 3 one night stays at the start of this tour and am glad it's no more as it is hard work. Today off to Salzburg via Munich. It was about a four hour drive with one brief stop and we got into Munich at lunch time. Straight to the Hofbrauhaus, the world famous beer hall which can accommodate 4,500 beer drinkers on wooden tables over two levels and outside in the garden. Great atmosphere and though not all the group went, there was enough for 3 rowdy tables. It was a lot of fun.
With Lyn and Lawrie we then went to the colorful markets and then walked to admire the gothic new city hall and the simpler old city hall. Lyn and I went shopping together and Kevin and Lawrie went to drink more beer but came back with metwurst instead!
Drove on to Salzburg where we arrived at 5.30 and picked up Gaby, a beautiful Austrian woman who gave us a walking tour of the inner city. Just beautiful, with pretty gardens, lovely river and a fabulous extremely old castle sitting perched on the top of the hill over looking the city. We spent a couple of hours there before arriving at our hotel at 7.30, bit exhausted from a long day. Dinner was again included but very ordinary and I think most of the group agreed that the included food is not great. Looking forward to coming nights when we can do our own thing regarding evening meal. Earlyish night to be ready again at 6am! Getting used to it ... Quite bizarre for me.
