Hi guys...we made it to Gunnison, CO last night. We left Glenwood Springs in the morning, and did a drive by of Boulder and the University of Colorado campus. The driving here is just beautiful so we enjoyed the ride through Vail and a bunch of other small towns to get to Boulder. We took a ton of pictures of course, and these are the ones we like the most. After the drive through of Boulder, we were on to Denver. When we got there we sat in traffic at a dead stop for 30 min. It was Saturday, so we had no idea why there was so much traffic. We finally found out that it was the St. Patricks parade, but who knew Denver shut the entire North entrance to the city down. Every single road entering the city was closed. So we almost got frusterated and left, but we flagged down a cop who directed us to the southern entrance and we finally got into the city. We saw their capital building, which was pretty cool, and the US mint. The area around the capital reminded me a lot of DC, with art museums surrounding a big park in front of the capital. We then parked and went to the 16th street mall, which was pretty fun. Everyone was in green and there was a live band and a big after parade party. After wandering around for a while, we left and arrived here at Gunnison at sunset. We are planning on another driving day of seeing the beautiful Colorado, however its supposed to snow again this afternoon, so we will see how far we get. Hope you guys had a great weekend!!! Im off to play in the snow. Kara and Chris

first horseback ride
In early February 1981, I was in Gunnison, Colorado, visiting a high school friend who recently moved there. We went horseback riding and had a blast. Little did I know that I was PREGNANT with you, Chris! So, that was officially the first time that you were in Gunnison... And it was also your first horseback ride! Yikes! Got any more pictures?? Love you both... Mom

Horseback in Gunni
Kel...fitting you rode horse in Gunni. There's probably more real cowboys in Gunni than there is in the entire Lone Star State of Texas. Once, I met a cowboy from Gunni who dipped his Red Man chaw in Jack Daniels and then dipped Coppenhagen snuff (top shelf) at the same time. (Don't try this at home). Now, that's a cowboy. Good times....Jer
