What a great trip this was! We somehow managed to get everone up and out of the house early and drove to Kettering where we picked up the bus which was to take us to the Jet boat on Bruny Island. The ferry across to the island took about 20minutes, then the bus took us the length of the island to Adventure Bay, the takeoff point for the boat trip. All the way in the bus we were tantalised by the smell of fresh bread rolls which they were bringing over from the mainland, clever trick as we all immediately bought morning tea then. Soon we all wandered on down to where two jet boats were moored and proceeded to load. I was wearing 3 layers including a coat and thought I would be warm enough but decided to accept the red cover all they handed out to everyone on board, and was very glad of it. When we got to the Great Southern Ocean, the winds were whipping in from Antarctica and were freezing. Quite a few dolphins froliced along beside us and the other boat, thrilling us with their antics, then further south we came across a colony of Australian Fur Seals lying on the rocks and swimming in the freezing waters
We slept well that night!
H cycled up Mt Wellington on Sunday on his little fold-up bike!!!! He is not the only mad one, I was chatting with a lady from Brisbane today (about as old as me) and she did the same thing a couple of days ago.
Today we had a lovely time eyeing out the boats at the wooden boat festival.
Some of the tall ships were there....The Young Endeavour, "James Craig" and a pirate ship with no name.

. All along the coast the dolorite rock formations created faces and other pictures and one blowhole just beneath the surface of the sea had been named the "Breathing Rock" because each time a wave approached it blew up a spume of spray. This trip has been awarded a tourism gong and very rightly so. Everyone on board enjoyed it immensely, even an old lady who must have been at least 80.We slept well that night!
