! it was about a 15 minute drive into venice, but we had to pay 19 euros for parking everyday since you can't drive into venice because it is an island made of canals and to get around the city you take water taxis everywhere. its really an amazing place to visit and had the best italian spaghetti bolangesa and carbonnarra i have ever had. the nightlife was above average for venice since it was the week of carnival. there was a concert every night. the two we went to were reggae shows. we went to a house party in an old venetian house in margarita square, took a romantic gondola ride through the canals and walked around he whole city in three days. i took a gigabyte worth of digital pics, 8 rolls of 35mm film and 5 rolls of 120 medium format film with my friend kate's yashica camera that she let me borrow...it's her dad's camera from when he was young. i have some great photos from the trip. we leave for barcelona tonight for valentines day. we are finally traveling now that we have some time...its so nice to get away from the city every now and then. right now i am taking lots of photos and i actually have an exhibit in paris next month at a place called politburo, or as we all know it...the communist bar, who our friend ryan knows the owner and hooked me up with the show...so i will be getting ready for that when i return from barcelona. the weather is really nice now, not as cold and sunny more often than cloudy, but i dont know how long that will last. it is the beginning of the chinese new year right now and in paris there are parades in the streets. i got some of my photos on the eyepress photo agency website that i work for, www.anphotos.com. i am still working for the figaro newspaper here and just photographed the director of a new movie called the edukators, a very cool german film. and freelancing for actors and models doing headshots to make extra money. so everything is great here. i couldnt ask for anything more. our new plans for next year are in the air, but we are considering moving to nyc in august if we cant make enough money by then. brea is dying to go on audtions and nyc is the place to be if you are a talented young, beautiful actress like she is. but for now we are ebnjoying our time in paris! hope all is well and write back when you get this to let me know how everything is going. i will try to put my photos from spain up asap.
hello. its been a while since my last entry. brea and i just got back last week from a five day road trip to venice, italy for the carnival festival, which is an eight day long event filled with costumed and masked people in the streets. we rented a car and our friends julie and macgregor came with us. the drive through france , switzerland and italy and it took 8 hours to get to milan , italy where we stayed for the night. we all partied at a hip, fashion club with models and wannabe models called hollywood. it cost 20euros to get in with one drink included, but brea talked to the door guy and the girls got in for free which was a pleasant surprise. the next day we went to the duomo, a huge church in the center of town with a huge piazza filled with people, pigeons and street entertainers. took some photos, ate lunch at mcdonalds(nothing like eating at mc d's in a foreign country) and drove the next three hours in to venice. we stayed at a campground called alba d'oro for 10 euros a night for both brea and i, which is about 15 dollars, and you cant beat that
