We are on the road between Alice Springs and Coober Pedy.
On the way South from Darwin, we stopped at another AWSOME free site called Robyn Falls, we were literaly camped next to a little creek with a small pool to sit in, or have a bath (which we did), unforchunately it was the coldest water to date in Australia, literally freezing our butts off!!
We have been to Alice Springs twice now, the last blog said we were on the way and that was true. We didn't even really stop except for groceries, and continued to Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock). We unforchunatly had a small problem with the Alternator (not charging the battery) and after a few days at the 'Rock' we had to drive the 500km back to Alice.
Ayers Rock (Uluru) was AMAZING! I thought it was just going to be a big rock in the middle of the desert and I guess thats what it is, but WOW, it is a lot bigger then I had ever imagined! There is a walking trail around it, for 10km (yes 10), and when you are right next to it, the 300m height (920 feet) is outstanding, I know why people die climbing it, it is almost verticle in most spots. It was a hot and windy day, dust devils would swirl around vilantly, and there were large red sand dunes, and absolutely no water! The atmosphere was a bit touristly, but because the rock is so big, you felt like you were there almost alone. A fantastic experience.
Well after the Alternator was fixed, by a guy named Jim, who we totally stumbled apon and open on a Saturday, a long weekend in fact (Monday was 'Picnic Day' in the NT), and a few days in Alice, we are heading to Coober Pedy to see what it is like to live undergroung!!

Take care all,
Keir and Kylie
