Cairns Holiday Park
We made it to Cairns!!! So far we have clocked 4000kms!!!!! But all is good, Howey is happy, which makes us happy. So why Howey you may ask..? Well our wonderful Toyota Hiace is our home for 7 months. So in other words...he is our H ome O n W heels!! Not sure about the E -Y but Howey just fits. Howey the Hiace. Heh heh.
We got here yesterday, went grocery shopping, made dinner, and went to bed. Not too exciting. So today we went exploring. This place is awesome! They have a whole "seawall" with park all along it. They have excersise stops, to do chin ups, or lunges, or sit up bars. They have a wicked skate park, with all kinds of jumps and steps and cool stuff. They have a little kid squirting water park area, lots of playgrounds with built in mats on the ground.Beach Volleyball, basketball courts, tennis courts and A HUGE lagoon (pool) even with a sandy area so kids can build sandcastles!! and BBQ areas everywhere with picnic tables BBQ's with gas, sinks etc...And it is all pristine! there isn't any grafitti, nothing falling apart, and it's free. Put on by the city!!! Am I the only one shocked here?? That wouldn't last in Victoria for a second! As it is Sunday families were out using everything and enjoying it! Awesome! The view of the ocean is nice but the "beach" is all muddy, and kinda yucky, not to mention that Crocs like hanging out there. That's why all of this cool stuff is along the side of the ocean up on the walkway.
Now we are back at our site, using our 3 hours of internet that comes with the site, and catching up on our blog.
We will head off tomorrow to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree.
