June 1st 2008

Another rainy day in Paradise! ( It's POURING ) We are sitting in the Campervan and peeling the old window tint off of the windows.( it's so old it has no tint left!) It is a smelly job when all of the windows are closed due to the weather, but we are a little bored and well, there's little else to do. (We are in Rainbow Beach by the way...heh heh. It is named that for the 72 different colours of sand. It is quite cool. Huge sand dunes blowing the sand everywhere and big black sand covered rocks scattered on the beach.)

Yesterday we went for a walk along the beach, there was a brief period of no rain and we took advantage of it.(Finally!) I had a look at the newpaper today when I was getting coffee for Kylie (what a great fiance eh?!) and looks like the rain should only last for another day or 2, (as per Keir, "due to the low pressure coming in from the north etc etc" sorry I guess you had to be there) and if we head farther north that should shorten the time as well. (The town itself is quite a little beach town. IGA, pharmacy, surf shop, butcher, coffee shop, burger joint, mom and pop conveince store etc etc but it is quite dead right now due to the torrencial downpour.) So tomorrow we are going to head to Bundenberg, home of Bundenburg Rum! (ding ding!!)

Bundenburg is also the start of the Great Barrier Reef and we are looking forward to nicer weather and doing a little scuba diving. It may be pricy but it would be unacceptable to not scuba dive the reef when we are here, don't you think? Ok, we may have to wait for the WhitSundays....Kylie said. There are also Rum Distillary tours and we are going to maybe buy a bottle of Rum while we are there, why not! From the information centre we found a lot of things to do while we are there and we might as well take advantage of the free local tour information offices while we are tourists in Australia afterall!

No matter where you are in the world, when it is raining it is not nice to be camping and to tell you the truth I have thought about a motel room a couple of times already! Even though we are spending $27 dollars a night here, a room at a motel would be around 70! So we are using our van to the most I think! ( If it wasn't windy we could have the awning up and then we wouldn't even care about the rain, but we are nervous about it tearing off the side of the van.)

Well Kylie is killing me with the fumes from the window tinting stuff (hey not my fault!...not really) and I am going to rap this up fo the day, we should be able to make it to an internet cafe soon, and get some stuff posted.

Keir and Kylie in Australia

PS
We watched the movie the bucket list last night and Kylie suggested we have a bucket list, and I said, "how about we drive around Australia". We both laughed.
