Closest yet to Australia and the flight with Merpati went fine. Up at 6am in Ende and left Mentari Hotel on foot for the airport after being ripped off over a taxi arranged by the Hotel. The driver wanted an extortionate sum because we were 'tourists' and the little hobbit dude at the hotel said 'what's the problem you can afford it'.

Turned out that just 5 minutes walk up the road from the hotel we each got Ojek's (man on a moped) to take the 3 of us for the local price - not the Gringo price. K and Hannah zoomed off into the distance while my bike had 40kgs of weight plus 2 grown men! Awkward!!!

We arrived at a tiny airport again, where it was complete chaos. Staff actually wrote out your boarding pass which is a first! They tried to charge us excess baggage to which K refused to pay- citing that we had already paid enough and then they backed down straight away-if only that method worked back at home!

Hannah managed to buy a place ticket after a bit of a haggle and actually insisting to see the real price on the screen rather than their made up price! So the 3 of us are off to West Timor!

Kupang and our first step onto a new Indonesian island.
