The more time goes on, the more I think my perception of places is affected in a major way by my experiences there and the people I meet. i haven't settled properly in Krabi (or Krappi as I'm now terming it) but there's no other reason why. We're staying in our nicest accommodation for 57 days (the towels here when held up to my neck trail on the ground - and that's with them width ways - please no smart arse comments about that hardly being surprising because I'm so short!), there are some beautiful beaches around (although we're not staying on one) and the weather is how you would want - although maybe a tad too hot.
So what reasons can I come up with for not having the time of my life. Firstly, I've been bitten to buggery - 25 bites on my left hand alone - I am that sad that I've counted! Secondly and perhaps most importantly we haven't met anyone - or more accurately anyone we like. Even the locals don't appear to be as friendly although I'm sure I must be imagining that. It does however have one massive plus point. Unfortunately this only exists if you're an avid rock climber and rock climbing is strictly a spectator sport as far as I'm concerned!
Still, we're here to meet up with some people who arrive tomorrow and after that we'll decide where our future lies - Cambodia, or another beach somewhere round here. Such decisions are going to seem a lifetime away when we return to the real world but for now, this is about as stressed as I get!
