Only just arrived.  I reckon we´ll be here for a few days at least.   We´ll definetly update this one again -- keep looking out for it.

I ate ceviche for the first time today -- a very traditional marinated seafood.  It had octopus.  It was delicious.

We went to Chan Chan -- ruins from the Chimu tribe -- pre inca.   The bus dropped us off at the entrance sign, which was somewhere between 1 and 5k from the actual refurbished tourist section.  Immediately, as in all of Peru thus far, taxi drivers and unofficial tour guides bombard you trying to get you to buy something before you even know where you are or what you´re trying to do -- after the obligitory standing there nodding, i called a huddle.   We decided we might just try to walk past everyone and see how that worked.   We smiled as we past the security looking gentleman at the gate and we were off -- into desert and ruins.   There was one main road, marked by spraypainted white rocks -- but there were so many ruins to explore, crumbling walls, and interesting doorways...   eventually we made it to the part of the city that had been restored.   It was amazing.... even a dead king.

We went surfing the next day -- and both of us did amazing.   I got  up on my first wave.... Kali came in a couple waves later... it was awesome.  No pictures, but we both claimed that the other ´totally looked like you were surfing, man`   After a couple of hours in the surf, we were pooped.   We went back to the hostel and ordered the biggest hamburgers that the world has ever seen... seriously, it was bigger than Kali´s head -- now that´s big.

Hello Intrepid Travelers!

...and we mean intrepid...you've endured intestinal disorders, transportation mishaps and snafus, observing toasted Australian testicles, an untold movie nightmare border crossing and more intestinal disorders...BUT you've been rewarded with beautiful beaches and waterfalls, caving, white water rafting, climbing, new friends, partying, great food and fun times.

After the camp and now this, we are convinced that there is nothing that you two cannot do! Shine on!

...but if you can avoid Huaquillas on the way back, do so...Ten Cuidado!

Love you guys so much!

Mom and Steven
