After our stay in the jungle we headed back down to Pevas to catch a boat going down to the triborders area of Peru, Brazil, and Colombia. 24 hours later of hammocking out on the boat. I actaully finished two books. They were very thick, no pictures, little letters and about life in Afganistan. Very sad books but they didn´t darken my mood. I was about to enter a country I have dreaming about for decades- Brazil.

Brazil and Colombia have two towns that have joined together over a porous border. Motocycles and scooters zip between the two countries. I have never seen so many motorcycles at one time, no choppers though. Women wear very little which is good because it´s very hot. It rains everyday. The river is the lifeblood to these border towns.

Dad and I decided to find a tour for our last day together. After our 4th stop we found a canopy tour outside of Leticia, Colombia. We found ourselves harnessed up with gear standing beneath a massive 120 foot tree with a rope dangling down. Long story short- Dad said a curse word (2nd time in his life) during a moment of desperation, I pulled my right bicep, lots of laughing, lots of speed, lots of sweat,  life flashed before dad´s eyes twice, more laughing, lots of yelling, and poisonous snakes.

Hi Kalvin:) boy was I glad to see Dad again. Especially after his adventure climbing the tree. The expression on his face said it all. Pure terror and fatigue.

Old Man River---it just keeps rolling along. Are you bored yet? I love looking at your pictures and hearing your voice and laughter on the videos. Stay safe and know you are missed in this part of the world. Mom
