The journey has begun and I have been hanging around Panama City the past four days. Just been walking the streets and eating the cheap and tasty food. 2.50 buys a huge plate. Too much to eat actually. Casco Viejo was a great day trip from the hostel. The drive there was great because our taxi was informing us about the area. He told us about gangs fighting each other in the rough part of town. It looked really rough. Makes the some "bad"streets back in Long Beach look like safe havens. Once we made it to Casco Viejo the afternoon was spent wandering around the narrow cobblestone streets, visiting a free emerald museum and drinking some tasty beverages in the square. Turned out to quite a nice experience.

The people of Panama are very diverse. There are indigenous peoples, asians, blacks, dark skinned latinos, light skinned latinos, jewish people, europeans, north americans, south americans. This is largely because of the isthmus being a land bridge between North and South America. The canal is also a major reason for all the international flavors. The people I I have met so far are very friendly. I even met two twin sisters who were stunning. Very friendly for being so hot. Met them just down at a restraunt near my hostel.

Speaking of hostels staying in a hostel is something to get used to, because you´re roomates often times smell like B.O. or just have their own special musk that permeates the room in the evenings. You´re senses often encounter new things. What is that smell? What is that squishing beneath my feet? You have people from all over the world, so it´s very interesting trying to comunicate. Hostel living is a great way to find out details for your future destinations. Their information may even persuade you to change your plans all together. My plans have changed. A new country has been added to my list of destinations. This will be discussed in the future.
