Teresa went off for her parapent jump at 8.30 this morning. While she was away I went to the post office where once again I was unable to access my voicemail. Very annoying. Came back to our cabin and sat outside writing a letter. I was very surprised when the rest of the group returned just after 9.00. They'd meant to have been away longer. They seem to have had a good time although they'd had to sleep and eat on the boat not a beach as promised and Ashley had slept off a hangover most of the trip.

Teresa returned having thoroughly enjoyed her trip and we left for Fethiye having been unable to persuade any of the others to join us on our trip. At Fethiye we caught another Dolmus heading to Saklikent Gorge. This was hot and crowded and the trip took nearly an hour. Along the way we had stops for a little boy to pee by the roadside, the driver to get his windscreen washed and fill up with petrol, a dad to take his little girl to a public loo and a photo stop above Saklikent.

By the time we got there it was lunch time so we chose one of the restaurants which had been built on covered platforms just above river level in the water. We sat around a low round table on cushions and it was wonderful. We were surprised to be served by an Irish girl. When not eating we could sit on the edge of the platform and dangle our feet in the icy (another surprise!) water and generally just loll around. We spent one and a half hours this way. There was a group of little turkish boys playing on the bank, real mudlarks, jumping in and out of the water. One had striking blonde hair which seems prevalent in this region.

Eventually we dragged ourselves away to walk up the gorge. This is only accessible in summer. Today it was packed with tourists. First you had to walk along a walkway precariously attached to a sheer rockface above the water. This was followed by a walk on a beachy bit and a crossing of the icy torrent. We were then free to walk up the gorge. While we were doing this we met another Exodus group, Turquoise Coast and sea Trek. I'd been wearing my Exodus t shirt so the leader of the group came over to me. All in all a wonderful trip out.
