We left the Longji rice terraces this morning. Well before that, we woke up very early, to catch the sunrise again. This time we were rewarded with a cloudless sky so that we could see the sun come up and light up the terraces. I must have about 200 hundred rice terraces photos!!
We walked back down the hill after breakfast. It was obviously faster than going up but nonetheless it was a bit of work for the knees. I also took it easy so that I could take photos along the way.
We then drove to Guilin for lunch. We stopped at a place the local driver recommended. It was a huge amount of food compared to what we normally get. Jason just talked to the restaurant manager and gave him a price that we were willing to pay for the food, and the number of people. It was really good. That is one thing, we haven't had any bad meals. The room at the restaurant, Dr. Tea, was a private room, with its own private bathroom and air conditioner, a karaoke machine and fixtures of gold and alabaster (well imitation I'm sure).
We then drove on Yangshuo. After a settling in and a a short walk around, we had dinner on the rooftop terrace. It was lovely.
The main pedestrian drag, West Street, is crazy with people trying to get you to buy souvenirs and clothes etc. And at night it is all loud music and neon lights. However it was all very polite and civilised.
