Yesterday we set off on our drive to Florence. We stopped off at Monte Carlo in Monarco which is close to Nice. Interesting to see but not as flash as I thought it would be. Saw where Grace Kelly got married and the Palace. Apparrently if you want to be a resident of Monarco you have to put down a $1million deposit and you still may not get accepted (and you loose your deposit).

Drove through Genoa to get to Florence. Very hilly and industrial. In the afternoon we stopped at Pisa. Very disappointed to find we wouldn't have time to climb the tower. Took the very touristy 'I'm holding up the tower' photo. The tower and church are actually very cool.

Arrived in Florence with time to freshen up-then off to Pizzeria for true Italian Pizza!!!! It rocked!!!

I love Florence!!! The italians are lovely! Today we went to a leather shop in the morning (yes I did buy a handbag-but was evening one and had forgotten to bring one with me so very much needed and justified buying it!!!).

Went on a walking tour and saw the replica of David and the Medici's Palace etc. A bummer we don't have more time to see things like the Acadamia or Fluggeli or the science museum (has Galileo's telescope).

Went to Santa Croce Church where Galileo and Michealango are buried. Was nice.

That night we went to a nice Tuscan vineyard for dinner. The wine was amazing-especially the strawberry apertif!!
