First day of tour yesterday-wakeup call was at the crack of dawn (thought we were mean't to have late starts on this tour???). Very very tired. We were collected on our tour bus and taken to Dover where we were catching the ferry to Calais. Saw the white cliffs of Dover which was very cool!

People and Guide seem OK. Bus driver is lovely. Spent a large part of the day driving then arrived at our Mecure Hotel in Le Defense which is the business area of France so very modern. Had a break for a hour to get ready for our dinner excusion to Moulin Rouge in Paris.

Very impressive seats our guide got us-front row! We started off with a three course meal and then the show. Interesting show-lots of topless dancers (which you expected being the Moulin Rouge). Great costumes. There was one impressive act where the stage retracted to reveal a pool with pythons swimming in it and a girl dived in and swam with them. Being at the front with the pythons felt a bit too close for comfort ;)

They also had acrobats and a ventriloquist (sp?) and a magician. There were great set changes and of course they finished with a cancan! Was a very cool show and a lot of fun!

Today we spent the morning on an excusion to the Louvre with a local guide. It was VERY crowded at the Louvre. Didn't really get to see a lot except the Mona Lisa.

Had some free time afterwards to walked 3 km's up the Champ De Elysees (sp?) to the Arc de Triomphe. Wanted to climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe but had to walk the 3 km's back to the Louvre to catch the tour bus. So was a bit bummed.

Back to the hotel for a quick change and then out to the Latin Quarter for dinner. Was OK. Nothing to rave about.

Went to the Eiffel Tower!!! Was fabulous!!!!! Was still light when went up so got loads of pics of the view. We only got to go up to the first deck as we didn't have time to do the second deck as had to catch the bus. On the way back to the hotel we stopped off at a place across from the Eiffel Tower where we got a fantastic view of the Eiffel and the lightshow it does every night at 10:45pm. Was amazing and worth checking out.
