I know it is Thursday and monday was a good while ago now but I've been busy trying to get caught up on my sleep and homework. It turns out that it is not that easy to do here!
On Bastille Day I woke up very early to get out to the military parade on the Champs Elysee. It was really crowded and we ended up waiting quite a while for the parade to start since the "start time" was actually the start of the ceremonies at the Arc de Triomphe and not the start of the actual parade. Once it did start, though, the parade was pretty cool. Very different from any parade I've ever been to. Basically it was a long march of all the military troops including tanks! There was also a really cool air force flyover and of course I got to see Mr. President Sarkozy drive by.
I then went home to recover and do homework. But later on that night I took a walk to one of the bridges near my appartement to watch the fireworks by the Eiffel Tower. All in all it was a pretty good day and an awesome weekend!
Yesterday we had a tour of the Rodin Museum after which I walked over to the Eiffel Tower and had dinner on the lawn once more. I don't feel like I can ever get tired of walking past the Eiffel Tower. It never really seems real.
Today was my last day of phonetics. Part of me is happy and part of me is sad. Phonetics was really beneficial I thought but I don't know how much two weeks of the class really helped. If we would've had it for the full month I think it would've gotten a little more ingrained in my head. However, I am really glad because this means that my classes now start an hour and a half later and I can walk to them in the morning instead of battling the crowded metro!
Tonight I'm going to try and spend some more time at the Musee d'Orsay to look at some of the paintings I didn't get too see when we went earlier in the trip.

Fun for four
Dear Kristina,
Grandma, grandpa, Robert and I just enjoyed reading your blog from start to finish. We loved your French lunches by the Eiffle Tower and your description of what the Parisians do in their everyday life.
We're sitting on the porch at Rhododendron waiting for the Bastille day parade to start here, but no such luck. Just a bunch of trees and some birds.
We're going to Trillium Lake this afternoon to see the view in summer - that is where we snowshoed this winter.
Hope all is well in Paris!
Love, Mom, Grandma, Grandpa and Robert
Hello everyone!
I'm glad that you've been enjoying the blog. I'll try to get some pictures up from Bastille day soon! I hope that the weather is nice in Oregon so you can get out and enjoy the lovely Oregon scenery!
