Hello everyone,
Just a quick hello from Paris! I am at the study abroad center right now just hanging out and waiting for our excursion to Versailles.  Last night after settling in we had our welcome dinner - I had paté, fillet mignon, and cheese. Everyone was pretty tired so the conversation was less than lively but afterwards a couple girls and I went out to the Marais (the gay distict) where they were having a big festival and "Marche Gay." It was quite a spectacle: cross-dressers, filled streets, and colors everywhere. We did not stay long but we definitely got a good taste of the area.
The amount of information that I am getting every day is almost overwhelming. I feel like there will be more than enough chances to appreciate and experience the language and culture while I'm here (though I wish I could stay longer now!)

ŕ plus tard!

Yeah for New Experiences
I bet you are enjoying every minute over there. Are you finding that you know the language as well as you thought?

You had quite the welcome dinner. You were certainly spoiled!

Re: Yeah for New Experiences
Right now I am one of the only students on the program who has had much French experience so I am getting to use my French quite a bit. Whenever I approach anyone and start off in French they always respond to me in French which is great. So I would definitely say that I am getting the practice I hoped for and that my French has held up pretty well so far though I know I have quite a ways to go in gaining vocabulary and getting all the kinks out of my grammar.
