Norway was now behind us, at least for the cruise portion of the trip. We stopped at Skagen on the northeast corner of Denmark's Jutland peninsula. We had to anchor out so tenders carried us ashore. Skagen

We walked into town but as it was early in the morning, there wasn't much going on. The one thing that struck us was that most of the homes and buildings were painted a deep yellow color unlike those colorful sites in Norway. 2-Skagen

One of the homes had a boat converted to a flower planter, a neat touch for a maritime town! Skagen boat planter

We came across a church in town that we visited. It was apparently dedicated to mariners. The church had ship models hanging from the overhead. It was a very impressive sight. Mariners Church

We could see a lighthouse off in the distance so we walked along the shoreline headed for it. We could see our ship the Westerdam anchored off in the background. Skagen Lighthouse

We saw some concrete fortifications along the coast. We went into them and found that they were built by the Germans in WWII for coastal protection. German fortifications

We came to a point of land called Grenen where the North Sea meets the Baltic Sea. The waves lap against each other creating something that we had never seen before. Grenen

We then walked back to town where we had some refreshments and watched the people. Skagen street
