Marilyn last visited Trondheim in the early 1960s and treasures a photo of her, Elsa, and Elsa's Mother sitting in her garden. We had the three of them sit just where they did over 40 years ago and reshot the photo. 1960s photo

We had a great visit that afternoon but unfortunately all good things end and we had to return to the ship to head for our next port Vik. As we were leaving port we passed Munkholmen or Monk's Island which looks like a fortification. Monks Island

It was originally built as a cloister in the early 12th century but was fortified in the 17th century and was used as a prison and execution ground in later years. It was finally closed in 1893. During WWII, the German forces installed anti-aircraft guns here to protect the nearby submarine pens. Today is a recreational facility.
