We sailed up our first fjord Sunnylvsfjorden to anchor at the small port of Hellesylt.
What is truly amazing to us was the beauty of the fjords and the sparse population. These fjords are very deep (often 1500 feet or more) surrounded by steep mountains that go up as much as 5000 feet high high. Steaming along you would see a home nestled partway up a hill with a stepway down to the dock for their boat then miles later another.
As we headed into Geiranger, we passed the famous Syv Søstre (Seven Sisters) waterfall. The falls cascade down about 800 feet from the top to the fjord.
We walked around passing a small school and a camping area where some number of people were staying.
Roger and I finally decided to stop at the store and purchase an øl (the extent of my Norwegian, it means beer).

Arriving at Geiranger
The town is small but darned if they didn't have another troll there who grabbed Marilyn (I guess they know these Norse gals).
Me rescuing Marilyn from another Troll!

Having my morning Oy at Geiranger
Our wives found it hard to see how we could stand out there early in the very cold morning drinking beer. I guess wives will never understand!
