Just in our backpackers at the moment, jumping on the internet to check a couple of things and having a chill out. We have spent the day exploring Auckland, going to a market up the road from our hotel, then to underwater world and antarctic encounter where we got up close to some monster penguins, and then had a massive hike carrying our bags from Crowne Plaza to the backpackers. its a big change from the hotel, i dont think julie likes it that much yet but only cause she hasnt stayed in one before. We are in a room of 6 with 4 other girls which is lucky cause we are in a mixed dorm floor. Communal showers are a bit wierd but there seems to be more girls than boys so thats not too bad.
The weather has been awesome today. it was a bit overcast when we woke up but after we got out and about the sun came out and it was lovely, about 24 degrees. We went out for a walk down to the water, and had a drink, then jumped onto this 2 seater carriage that is peddaled like a bike by your driver. the ride is meant to be free but we each gave the guy a dollar for his efforts. as we were looking for somewhere for dinner he took us down to the Viaduct harbour. we thought that we would have dinner out tonight as we wouldnt get another chance to for a little while, and sat down by the harbour in an italian resturant outside. It reminded me alot of Cairns. It was like a strip with lots of resturants facing the water. There were heaps of people around but still realy nice. We could even see the Harbour bridge.
After dinner we decided to get one of the bike people to take us for a romantic ride along the water front which was lovely. We had our photo taken and then headed back to here. I think that we are going to have an early night tonight, we are pretty excited to start our tour except that apparently its still flooded up north so we shall have to see what happens.
In the newspaper thismorning it was saying that this was a once in 50 year event so lucky us for getting to witness it :S
Anyway, we are having heaps of fun, especially making fun of the nz accents! Love yas xox
