This won't be an involved entry, but I wanted to have a map pin for Tokyo and I don't think I can just put a pin in without an entry.

Well, I got to O'Hare around 9 a.m. for my 11 a.m. flight as was recommended, and I then had to wait about an hour and a half. The flight to Tokyo was all right, except I was stuck in a middle seat. They served a couple meals and several snacks, and I was able to watch a couple movies I hadn't seen before. The only problem was it was daylight the entire time since we were flying west, so I didn't sleep other than dozing a little bit. I took a quick nap during my five-hour layover (ug) in Tokyo, but it was noisy and bright so I didn't sleep much.

I finally made it to Bangkok a little after midnight, and by the time I went through immigration, the baggage claim and customs it was 1 a.m. I was going to try to take a bus into the city near the hotel I had a reservation at, but the busses weren't running at the time so I had to take a taxi. That turned out to be a good thing, because I was so exhausted it was nice to be able to just be taken to my destination without having to try to figure out where everything is.

The interesting thing, though, was that that was the first time it really sunk in that I was actually doing this. I had prepared for months, bought supplies and tickets, made reservations and spent more than 24 hours straight in airports and planes, but it didn't really hit me until I was exhausted, being driven by a man I could barely understand and didn't know but who I had to put my complete trust in through a foreign city where I knew no one and could not speak the language. I will admit: for the first time, I did feel a bit nervous, but at that point, I was really too tired to care, so it worked out. And in the back of the car, I smiled.
